found a mini silver fork,

It is most likely aluminum and was a part of a childs play set.

yeah i just found one online. its aluminum, its still pretty cool.
 

This one might not be silver but don't get discouraged keep digging and you well find so sort of treasure!! HH Shorty.
 

The spotty corrosion is a giveaway. Silver should have a grayish to black coating depending on soil composition, but won't get corrosion pits. You can also tell something by density-- if your fork is light like a feather that is another indication that it is aluminum. Silver is much denser-- not as heavy as lead but heavier than brass.
