Ok I'm very new to MDing so dont know all the ins and outs yet. I got this area picked out that use to be an old school but it was converted to a church/nursing home in the late 50's. I got permission to hunt the property from the people who take care of it so thats the good part the bad part is it has a texas historical marker on the property. So does that mean I cant hunt it or does that even matter?

Good Deal!
As long as you have permission from the owner, I believe you're good to go!

Welcome to the addiction

Happy hunting and keep on swinging that MD!

do you want the correct answer? Or do you want my opinion?
The correct answer would be probably not my answer is I would do it if I had the owners permission because most likely you will have some great finds that have nothing to do with the reason it has a marker.

I think I'm gonna hunt the site...but it'll be early morning at the crack of dawn ;D. First day will be tomorrow...Hope to post some pics with the goods....

If the owner, owns the land then why not ??? The state just couldn't come in there and put up a sign, even though it's a historical site without the owners conscent

Rob,

If you are referring to the plaques that are for the "Texas Historic Register" or the "National Historic Register" then you are good to go. That is something that the property owner can apply for simply to call out that the structure has some historic value. It does not mean that the State has any control over the property.
