I'm not sure exactly what it is and I'm hoping "I know one of you will know" what it is!!! It slightly larger than a quarter it has US then in the center in small letters VA. It has a screw on back with two fabric pins on it to catch the fabric when screwed down. It was located in Va about 5 miles from the NC line. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Cool find it looks like a collar stud but I've never seen one with va in the center. I'm thinking its a Virginia national guard collar stud. Don't hold me to this but it looks ww1 ww2 era. Some one will know on here.

Kinda reminds me of the US badge on the "Class A" uniform saucer hat. But I haven't seen one with VA on it either.

Super interesting button. I can't wait to read what it's actually from

It is a collar-disc insignia (not a button) representing the 1st Virginia Regiment of the US National Guard. Note that the background around the emblem is a diagonal checkerboard, with a small dot (actually, a tiny acorn) inside each square. That means your US collar-disc insignia (with screw-post on the back) dates from approximately 1920/21 through 1937. For more info on time-dating US collar-disc insignia, go here:

Thanks Cannonball Guy I knew it wasn't a button when I posted it, I just had a brain fart and couldn't think straight. I guess from the heat today, it was so hot today I saw tree's arguing over who the lucky one was the dog was going to have to pee on. Lol

Thanks again,

And HH to everyone and stay safe!!!
