It was raining most of the day here, but I got the fever. I decided to go out and hunt for the first time since the beginning of spring. A well known tree that has produced buttons time and time again. It gives good cover from teh rain. I did find another little white button and this whats it. Not sure what it is. I have found pieces of a lantern and a compact pen under the same tree. If anyone can identify this that would be great.

Thanks,
HH

I agree with Steve, but looking at the mouth piece part, as a trumpet/French horn player the opening past the mouth piece is way too big. Looked like it may had rusted out, so again it could be a mouth piece.

 RR

Almost looks like a stopper for an old perfume or ink bottle. If it has a hole through it though, I think that would rule those out. Just a guess.....

I have an old ingraving tool that looks like that. Does it look like the tip was broke off?

It looks like a fire place bellows tip to me ::). or a mouth piece,

I guess it could be a fire bellows or any of the other ideas. Except I do not think it is an engraver. The tip does not look like it is broken off. It does have some weight to it and the hole through the center IS big enough where it could have been used to pass something else through it, such as air or another object.

keep the suggestions coming...I open for anything and feel free to ask any questions..

It's the business end of a Plumb Bob.

Does it look like it could be the tip of a flag stick? Does anyone have a picture of one? It looks like it is an ornamental piece of something that was broken off.

I do think it looks like it belongs to a bellows. Looks like the tip is broken off of it.. Here is a picture I found. Compare the picture on the right to my pictures. Looks very similar.

Thanks for everyones help...
