Really hot and humid today, but I still managed two good finds. The best was an 1867 IHC, which is a semi key date. Had a mintage of less than 10 million. It was 7 inches down and under a small root.

The second find was an 1880 IHC, which was about 6 inches down. Pretty toasted, but at least I could read the date. I'm going to have to give it a long hydrogen peroxide bath to get it in presentable shape.

Here's a few pics:

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures

Nice coins Tim. I found a really nice 66 a couple weeks ago. It's fun to find a nice coin with a fairly low mintage. That 67 should clean up nice

Congrats on the semi-key indian. Looks to be in great shape.

two IH, nice, congrats

Thanks, guys! I think the 1880 is a lost cause, but I might be able to get that 1867 looking pretty decent. At least I could read the dates on them. I've found 7 IHC's this year and 2 were no dates. Very frustrating when you can't read the date!

Nice Indians! One of my favorite coins to find. Thanks for posting!

Nice 1867! Congrats!

I love the IH pennies. So great job finding two on the same hunt. I USED to have an 1864 and it was one of my favorite found coins. It's a long story but it is now lost.

nice saves. put some baking soda on a wet soft toothbrush and rub the coin for 10 seconds then follow with hot peroxide bath until it stops bubbling, change peroxide and repeat, then back to the baking soda scrub to finish. you will be amazed at the end result-----no green but a chocolate color with details clear. if you shoot after-cleaning photos use natural light and get a tripod. I use a spotting scope tripod for all my photos.

I keep hoping for a fatty IH, but 1865 is the oldest one I've found so far.

Sweet Finds ..

I have found only 2 in the past few years one was 2 Weeks ago ' a 1903' that's pretty Toasted but ill Take It.

Great Dates you found there.

Davers

Cool finds! I actually pulled a '67 Indian from a roll of cents a while back. That's my oldest find ever from a roll. I'd love to find some places dig one up.

Hey, no fair! That's too easy getting one in a roll! Just kidding. The last IH I got in change was about 4 years ago. It was an 1898 and in very nice condition.

Tim, got this fatty '59 on 8/15

Wow, that's a great find with an Ace 250! I'll find one eventually (I hope).
