Found an interesting early 1800's button working on the graveyard restoration today

Cleaned up you button pic slightly and I can now make out 'Standard', the other word looks like 'Colour'. :icon_scratch:
To me, it looks to be a very corroded mid-1800s one-piece brass flat button.

Thanks Dave! The metal is actually a white-ish color and it flakes around the edges like pewter. That, along with what seems like an odd font for the backmark, has me confused, which isn't unusual for me these days.

Agreed, STANDARD COLOUR. Circa 1830s
 

Nice find Creskol. I have one with the same design on the back, but the stamp is "Rich Gold Colour". Looks like yours has already been ID'd as Standard Colour.
