DG39, Nice Find, I Would Have To Guess 1920's, 5 cents Wouldn't Be Worth Much At a Lumber Co. Much Later Than That. Good Hunting. trk5capt...

A 50? token of the same type is listed in the first edition of Trantow's Lumber Company Store Tokens, and is rated R9 ? 5-9 known at that time (1978). The company reportedly had two circular sawmills and two band sawmills. They had also had mills at Elizabeth, LA and Vinton, LA in the 1920's-30's.

Oakdale was originally called "The Bay" in the late 1800's, became Dunnsville in the early 1900's (named for mill owner William Dunn), and was renamed Oakdale in 1913. When Oakdale's mill industry was at its peak, it was the sixth largest city in the state, according to the 1920 census.

Nice token and congrats! HH, Mike

Nice token. These are always good finds because of the history.

Last year I found a cache of (3) tokens that had David Ward's name on them. They were lumber tokens made in the late 1800's by Lumbering giant Daivid Ward. I sold two of them for $100 each.
