Found an interesting piece of glass. Can anyone ID?

I found this today at an old site. Solid piece of glass. Looks like a glass stopper that you would cap a liquor bottle with. That's my best guess. Any other ideas?

Could be part of a stopper, or even a knob that has broken off a bigger object like a lid/cover.
