Mark,
Nice finds. I am working on getting a small group together(4 or 5) for a Ghost town road trip.
When does the tall grass start dying down up North?

The farther North you go the sooner it starts to die. I would find Thompy and ask him when it starts to go up there.
He is in about the same area.

Here it starts to go down after the first hard frost. Ferns are already brown and falling.

Nice finds!!

Love the Merc and Silver War Nickel!

Now where is this place?

Mark have you ever hit the old schoolhouse off Hill Rd? Its full of iron nails in spots and still holds a few IH's. The Quattro and small coil should do the trick there. Might even be a V nickel lurkin around.

Schoolhouse off Hill Rd? No, which one is that, would love to give it a shot.

The old hall is on C48 near Dear Lake. Let me know if you are interested in going out there. Be happy to have you along.

Great coins! They look in fantastic condition. Maybe you better bring along the lawn mower next time ya go!

Happy hunting

My Mistake! I meant Ridge Road. turn north on the gravel road and 1 mile to the next intersection. Corner of Wurm Rd and ?
Dang getting old can't remember squat! LOL

Just sold my water machine and the ML is in the shop.. So detectorless for a bit.
but I sure would like to hit it with you later on.

Thanks Giant!

Tom, you are always welcome to use my White's. I will check out the school this weekend, so close to home.
"Wurn Rd." I think is what you were looking for.
I see that school in the 1901 Plat map. It is sitting right on some property belonging to one of my customers! That is cool.

Went to the old Grange last night, found some really cool can tabs and beer bottle tops. Dark too quick right now.

I will let you know how the old school site works out.

Have a great weekend.

Mark,

Keep at it at the Grange. There's bound to be plenty there if its a virgin site. I laugh when ever I think of hunting old Grange Halls because one time up by Petoskey a friend and I hunted one and we found a bunch of Merry Widows containers in the back!! :)

I have this weekend off ... first one in a while... but promised a guy I would help him out tomorrow (Saturday) If Sunday afternoon works let me know.

Wurm.. Wurn thts sounds right. I stopped at the farm on Ridge Rd a few years back and the guy told me he thought the township owned the schoohouse. If I remember right there is even a sign on it saying its available for rent for special occassions. its fixed up pretty nice.

The orchards were being picked and I had a lot of onlookers last time there.
