Detected an old house site beside the railroad tracks in NWA yesterday. Found lots of cans, trash ,etc. On the way back to my car I dug a signal that sounded decent. Didn't know what I had until I got home and on-line. Looks like an early 20th century railway baggage tag from the St. Louis & San Francisco Railway Company. I think it might have also been known as the Frisco? I found the 1913 Buffalo nickel on one of my last visits to the same spot. I've read that these baggage plates might be collectible?

W.W. Wilcox was a major baggage check maker in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Judging by the style of yours, I would say your guess is pretty darned close.
