That's a really interesting one. The depth and definition of the cupules are quite different from ones I've found in Cali.

is there any use wear? a lot of such stones are just stones with natural dimples just like a lot of rocks with holes are just rocks with holes and a lot of pestles are just pestle shaped rocks.

I see a good number of these picked up on youTube by creek walkers. They are well-documented as artifacts (nutting stones).

Many times these have pecked dimples on both sides of the stones.

I wonder why so few have been found in New England. Curious.

Please post close up photos of those indents.

Interesting site and it looks like a wealth of knowledge . I have a few odds and ends that I have always wondered about.

Having researched this on this site I'm guessing it may be an Omar , All I know about it is that it was found on the farm and by my Grandpa and passed away and it was passed on to my Dad and eventually me. Prior research before I found this site led me to think it was a nutting stone. We have lots of stone tools and artifacts in this area so it is worth asking about.

I found this in the garden about 40 years ago, it looks like a carved stone bison.

My wife bought this token on ebay.

A rock found in the field , Probably natural but I've always wondered.

We have found quite a few stone tools over the years , Including fire rings and stones laid out to represent a turtle . It's under water most years but some dry year it will show up again and I'm going to take pictures next time. Thanks for the awesome website.

forgot to mention the one I think might be a nutting stone is wore down in the area around the hole.

Hi Davey welcome to the forum. You found dome interesting things. It is always best to start your own thread with your items unless Choo ask people to post like examples. That way your items will be checked out on their own. Make sense?
Stay safe!

I went creek hunting yesterday only thing I found was another nutting stone! It’s a pretty nice one 2 nice holes! I was hoping to find some points but my hunt was cut short because it started pouring the rain!

Is that on a river cobble? Nice double nutter stone. They are fun to carry out if far. I have lost a few that I did not go back and get. My mistake.
