This is my first post guys. Recently bought a Fisher CZ3D 1021. Found about 4 pennys and 2 silver dimes. But this object i cant identify. Its heavy, looks comb like, has threads in one end, i believe its brass or bronze. Found it on the edge of a field. Has some writing on it best i can make out it says "Kentucky Mad 62 feet per pass" i can only make out kentucky for sure the rest im kinda guessing. Any one got any ideas its odd looking. 20150321_192814.webp20150321_192814.webp20150321_192814.webp20150321_192814.webp20150321_192814.webp

Oh and welcome to TNet.
I can add that it is also referred to as a pressing comb or iron, used to press hair, and that Madame C.H. Walker was the first Black female Millionaire.

My first thought was louse comb, but then I reckon a hot comb would straighten hair and get the lice both. I remember finding a hard rubber louse comb on the Nevada desert and couldn't figure out what it was, showed my mother, and she knew. I guess a hundred years ago people had more bugs than we do now. Welcome aboard TNet BorGrv, hope you find plenty more interesting stuff.

I believe it is a hot comb. Thanks for the help figuri g out what it was. I woulda never figured that out lol. You can learn quite a bit metal detecting it seems like. I have some other finds i will post later. Thanks again every one.
Looks like a hot comb, if it is it was invented in 1905 by Madame C.J Walker, some Americans of African decent still use it today to straighten their hair. I have seen it used with so much hair oil/grease that it sizzles or fries the hair straight. It is frowned upon by most people today.
