Found at a possible Civil War camp ground

Found this small ring on a chain. Appears to be made of brass or copper. Thoughts?

It kind of look like a bezel to hold a coin.

Thanks Duggap! I did an image search and I think you're right. The recent ones online appear to be one piece with the chain loop as part of the mold. This one, the chain loop is a separate piece that has been soldered on.

Because of all the other Civil War artifacts I've found in this area. There may not be a correlation, not sure, just wanted to get it identified.

Definitely a bezel, as stated by duggap, probably for a coin or watch.

Hey Coinman, it fits a dime perfectly. I found some photos online where the bezel has a coin in it and at the other end of the chain was a pocket watch. I'm going back on Sunday to see if I can find the coin and or watch. Have a great weekend!
