When I first dug one of these up, I thought it was a piece to a small shovel, the one on the bottom left was the first one I found. Then I found some more, in better condition. They are about the size of a 12 guage shotgun shell. They are made from a light non-ferrous metal. They definitely seem to be blown apart. I did find a couple of 2.25" projectiles as well, much too big for these things. Unless these are from inside the shell casing or something. Any ideas?

They are really dirty inside, hard to clean. There is definitely something inside, like a cross beam or something.

Thanks, I don't even have a likely guess.

Coffman starter cartridges fit tightly into a chamber much like a weapon and wouldn't blowout or deform during discharge....if they did extraction would be near impossible. The cartridges for each different size starter came in sizes from approximately a 10g shell up to shells several inches in diameter for larger Jet Aircraft like the B57 Canberra....and our B52.
Just sayin.....

I find these, its part of a large firework rocket. Must have been a display at one time.

From being stationed on a bombing range in the service I would have to say they are smoke charges that are contained inside practice bombs. Practice bombs are smaller and cheap to make but have the same flight characteristics as a real bomb. The smoke charge facillitates scoring the hits in lieu of an explosion. Monty
