If I had a magnet, I think I'd try around boat launch docks, and fishing docks/piers. I'm thinking people toss a lot of junk off of bridges.

May not need a new handle, I think after it dries I can sand it and it will be fine.

There's a highway bridge with a scenic walkway on one of the Roads leading into my town. Just South of there by a hundred yds used to be an early carhop restaurant. 5 years ago they blew down an old power dam just downstream. Somewhere in there is a place where all the sweetheart pins, class rings and wedding bands came to rest. What a place for a sluice pump!
