Found this in the Yard. Not sure what it is. Any ideas? Looks like a decorative plate with a revolutionary war Hessian soldier but not sure what it would have been attached to.
Please post a picture with something to give us an idea of its size. A coin or ruler will do and also give us a picture of the back. Your find interests me.
it is a little bigger than a half dollar. The center hole is about the size of a quarter. The little holes above and bellow the hessian soldier makes me think it was tacked onto something wooden. The other side is just the inverse of the front. Thanks for looking.
My wag is that it is half of either a sash buckle or brooch that would have looked like this. The hole in the center probably had a stone or applique of some sort.
