Found in the woods????

I found these items way back in the woods. The trap was not set which was good for me.

Yours is a Victor(Still made) and appears to be a #11/2 or 2, neat find!!

That appears to be a antique type onedia victor "leg hold" type trap (used for foxes and such) size # 1 1/2 or # 2 --these traps are still made and used to this day.

I know nothing about collectable traps,but I do know some has value even being rusted like that.. probly would have to look on the trap for a makers mark an then google it...

I stated right off what the make was. It is not collectable, but a nice piece to hang on the wall. It is used for small animals like muskrats.

That looks like the same size trap that I used for muskrats years ago. That size trap may pinch your fingers a little but won't hurt you. Heck, I've had my fingers caught in larger traps with no ill effect.

Kind of a snare man myself anyway. But those rusty old Victor traps sure look nice on the wall! Nice Finds!

When I was a kid in the late 60's I used to go with my uncle on his trapline. He trapped mostly muskrats who like kuger said made a mess of the local farmers stock ponds. He caught, skinned and sold hundreds of them for $2 or $3 a piece, back in the day. He didn't have to kill them as they drowned after they stepped in the trap and fell in the water.

Very few animals caught in live traps are injured, in my experience. And yes, a foot trap is a live trap. Many animals are relocated from one area to the other by the use of foot traps. If they were so inhumane, the animals wouldn't be able to be released. Using the right trap for the right animal is the key.
Nice long spring trap that was found.

This trap is a 1-1/2. I trapped for over 40 years ad never saw a single spring No. 2. No. 2's had double springs. There are some states that have outlawed leg-hold traps but still legal in most.
