during chat. Relative who lost everything during Katrina & more recently a fire that put the final death touch to the house. Billy has been moving whatever salvageable back to the farm house. I saw some of the old bottles in his collection & containers of pocket change. I asked if I could have his bottles, but these were from his mom, so the answer is no, he did give me permission to clean up the bottles & ID them.
Among this filthy muck (all submerged in salt water), I found a Lincoln Head Cent (collection starting 1941) coin folder. After drying it out since Saturday, I had it back inside just glancing at the pennies. The 2 '43 & '43-D steel pennies are beyond corroded. In the 1951 slot was this 1907 Indian Head. Ask anyone who was in chat last night, & they can tell you how excited I was finding this. LOL Now, I have to get permission to check out all the other pocket change in various containers...it will be a nasty job.
Going back to the bottles...per Billy these were bottles his mom had picked up over the years at garage/yard sales. The oldest one is a Morses Indian Root Pills bottle (per my research). I think the prettiest is the aqua Lea & Perrins bottle. Whew, I would love to have em all for my collection.
Easy finds, but not mine.
