Sunday morning early my friend Ed & I decided to try our luck on the old strip at Lake Ozark. It seemed a likely spot for some coin shooting as this was the only long grassy area next to the sidewalk, every where else having been paved over.
Despite some tough digging, the ground is 50% rock I do believe, I found a costume ring and a 1940 Penny in really good shape as well as a total of a total of .94 cents in clad coin.
About halfway thru our detecting I had a strange signal that my M-6 couldn't decide if it was a screw cap, penny or quarter so I gave it a dig and found a High School class ring just under the surface. I was pretty excited to say the least but I really got happy when I saw it had the full name of the owner inscribed inside!
My wife was able to contact the owner thru Facebook and she got an interesting story of how the owner thought it was gone forever. Hopefully he'll post the story here for me as a "reward".
As much as I'd liked this ring to have been solid gold with 10 carets of diamond, this find was cool because we're going to be able to reunite it with it's owner.
Happy digging all,
Gary
