I don't get out much and have never found a ring, but today I had an hour before sundown and decided to head out to a cellar hole. About 100 yards away from the site I decided to hit the trail. Found a few shotgun shells and rifle shell casings. Got a signal that I thought would be more of the same, but much to my surprise out pops this 1968 Loyola High School class ring. It is bent and cracked, but all there. Got it home, cleaned it up and was able to read the name on the inside(and it is marked 14k). Was able to locate this person's mother in Baltimore and she was thrilled, although she never knew he had lost it! We chatted for awhile and she gave me his number and her mine. He called me back about a half hour later and he was shocked and excited. Turns out that the ring was lost by his high school sweetheart after they had swapped class rings. He said she would put wax inside it so she could wear it. She never really knew where she had lost it. As I told him where I had found it he said their families would go there in the summer in the late 1960's and early 70's. Anyway, I'm shipping it back to its owner tomorrow and I'm sure his wife will be thrilled since she was his high school sweetheart.

Gotta agree with Rando here......honorable mention material.....and that is a so cool story with them still being together.

Oh that is so cool. That's awesome that he married her and that she can get him to stop ragging her now about losing it years ago, lol.

Outstanding story and super nice deed you have done by reuniting this ring with the owner! nice job all around! HH!

Way to go......on the find, and on the looking for and i.d.ing the owner.
Won't be able to take it to the bank, but you do have the knowledge that you did the right, honorable thing.
Hope we can all be likeminded if/when we are in the same situation.
Honorable mention time!!!!

Nice Ring. I am still looking for the family of the 1922 class ring I found not long ago. Research on initials is very hard. Great find for you.
