...and didn't even know. I figured I had used up all my luck on Friday with the Franklin half find because Saturday and Sunday were slim pickings. I hit several of my regular spots and only squeaked out a few wheats. This evening I tumbled the clad I found and noticed a nickle that looked much better than normal. Sure enough it was a 43 P. I'm usually pretty good about checking my coins as I find them but somehow this one got by me. Always check your clad!

I also found a Thompson lock cover that I think might be pretty old.

The thing to the left of the nickel is a piece of Falsa play money that appears to be made of copper or a copper alloy.

Thanks for looking and HH.

Nice!

Just make sure you tell Old Dude how you found it, he needs all the help he can get. ;)

Hmmm.. I'm going to have to go check my nickel jar. :)

War nicks are fun coins. I found 7 last year. I find they always have some crud but clean up beautifully in lemon juice.

Great save

War nickels are always cool !!!

I found two last year. I can remember being all excited because I hadn't found one before.

PS: I've found odd coins when cleaning my clad also. One that comes to mind was a 1865 Victorian half penny when I was cleaning quarters. I can remember one day at a race track after a weekend event they had there I was walking along popping quarters left and right. It must have been one that I never even looked at. I must of just picked it up like any other quarter and put in my pouch. DOH !!!
