Last week a guy had a dumpster against his house, doing some demo and I asked him if I could hunt his yard. He agreed and I found a 3 ringer and a bunch of clad and a merc.

I had some time this morning so I went back and switched the coil on my deus back to the LF 11" and found a few more items including:

#2!! , a 46 Washington silver quarter, a '25 Merc dime, a batch of wheats and lincolns, another 3 ringer (solid base), a 1920 Petersburg dogtag, there is also a big brass or copper downspout nail/fastener in the pic too just because I like it

It's more modern than a traditional CW 3 ringer, it has the hash marks on the inside of the grooves, indicative of post war. Still cool though, love the merc and the "2". Great hunt.

I could be wrong about the bullet though, my eyes might deceive me. Still very cool. I can't even imagine how many bullets, muskets, bodies, mortar shells, and cannon balls are laying hidden in the backyards of Petersburg. I used to work at Fort Pickett doing archaeological work, all of our finds went to Fort Lee (Jefferson Davis's funeral carriage is still there).

Your title had me worried, scared I might see a big steamy pile of kaka. Nice finds, I like the gutter fastener too along with that silver!

Dang I want neighbor like yours!

your 11" LF did pretty good, your HF coil missed all of that?

Well, ya just don't know. Did I pass over it with the elliptical or not? It is a small yard and I was pretty methodical but who knows. I would say the second round of items found were deeper on average. The lot is near a power line and the LF coil is way chattier than the HF. I'm sure there are plenty of finds still there. I declined to dig many iffy targets because there were so many good ones.

Very sweet finds- Congrats!

Way to go. It also looks like a Sharps carbine bullet to me. I can't make out the marks in the grooves from the picture. My lawn is odd too, found a colonial musket ball here, a couple tombac buttons and a CW hat #1. Go figure.

The down spout hook is the find of the day. Cool piece of brass or copper for sure. Congrats on the silver too and old lead.

Nice finds. I like that 1920 Dog tag, and always like to see the Mercs.

Hello Phishfarmer. A vintage dog tag, old ammo, some nice silver...that doesn't look like #2 to me.

Great finds, thanks for posting them and Good Luck out there. C9
