Not an applied lip. It's an early machine made drugstore bottle dating from 1903 to 1917. Although the diagnostic horizontal mold line beneath the top is hard to see, the large irregular ring on the bottom is the suction machine cutoff scar or more commonly referred to as an Owens ring, and confirms it being machine made. The use of manganese oxide as a decolorizing agent is responsible for the purplish tint after exposure to sunlight. Use of MnO was discontinued in 1917 when we entered WWI.
