Magnet sticks to all surfaces.
4" long.
4 square holes. Possible nail or spike holes.

Very rusty.

Any advice on best method to clean? I'm dying to identify this piece!

It's too crusted over to get any real detail for an ID. The square holes are intriguing though.

do electrolysis on it. Clean it right up. Several threads in forum can tell you how. Basically, make a water bath with baking soda. Hook black lead to metal suspended in water and red lead to sacrificial metal. If bubbles don't start instantly you doing something wrong. Most people recommend 0.5amp trickle flow. I go with 6amp...fry the son *****
