Found possibly an old key ?

Here in libby, mt. at the old fair area by the old central school; playground now. Found a key about 3 inches down and it read 42 on the VDI.
It sounded funny, not like an pulltab so I dug it. Here is a picture of it below. Maybe someone can date it. Looks like it might have been for a jewelry box maybe. Also found a few clad coins as usual around there. Used to be a good spot for silver coins a few years back.

Went to the highschool when they had the soccer match yesterday and cleaned that area out of quarters and other small change. for a grand total of $6.47 plus the 2 bucks i found at the playground. Have not hit the Nordicfest area yet. thats for this afternoon when it starts clearing out.
