Went to Adventure Landing Waterpark today to beat the heat. I'm located on Jacksonville, FL and the heat and humidity has been terrible! But living in Florida my whole life I'm used it. Anyways, I had free tickets because my friend works there. I went to the counter to buy my little sister and girlfriend some drinks and candy. The lady rang everything up and I payed for it. I held my hand out for the change and she drooped it in my hand. When she did I heard a "CLINK", looked in my hand and found this!

1952-D!

When I seen it I asked her to check her register to see if there were anymore. She happily obliged but sadly there were no more.

Happy I found some silver and got to relax today!

Happy hunting to everyone!

Doesn't get much better than that! Unless, of course, she would have had a drawer full for you!

not very often that you see silver in circulation, but with the poor economy people are getting into their stashed coins and spending them. or they are getting stolen. could be any number of scenarios, but the good thing is that it found it's way to you :icon_thumleft:

Yea, you just never know how it made it to that register.

I always check my change and very rarely do I find silver.

The retail locations that I have had the best luck finding silver at would be Walgreens and Flash Foods gas stations.

Not because they just happen to get more silver, but because they have automated change dispensers that have clear fronts. You can see every bit of change they have at one time and its all stacked vertically. It only takes to a few seconds to check the edges of the quarters and dimes to see if anything pops out at you.

It wasn't silver, but I did onetime get back two steel wheat pennies at an Arby's. I asked the gal at the register if she had anymore in the drawer and she did. So I bought all 25 for a quarter. I know they aren't worth much, but it's still cool to have as many as I do now. If only it had been Mercury dimes or something like that...

One day I was at the local bank and some elderly lady had just paid off her gas & electric bill ... in Morgan and Peace dollars. I didn't actually get a chance to witness the transaction, but the bank manager was oogling over the 80+ silver dollars. I was fortunate enough she sold me 5 of them at face value, since I was a regular at the bank and appreciated the value of the situation. The employees bought out the rest of them.

I usually see silver dimes maybe once every 2-3 years. Getting a quarter is impossible around here! Congrats!
