That exactly right A2 and I took the bull by the horns and dug it all.

It is a cool longhorn piece, and the lead and silver are great too....but the steer reminds me of that UT Taco Meat team...they beat the fuzz off us in college until my senior year.

I would normally say to throw it back, but it really is a "wow" find...Ive only been holding on to that bad feeling and grudge for 40 years or so...maybe time to let it go.

Nice job !

Nice Finds..
Ive hunted that site a few times myself.
I know there has to be REALLY Great stuff there, but seems to me the really good stuff is possibly too deep to really get at.
Was wondering what yall thought about maybe those older finds could have come in with all the fill dirt from another location.
Seems like so much of the Original Ground level at the actual fort site is covered with quite a few feet of dirt brought in for the levee, as well as landscape, landfill, and what not.
Not sure what year all that area got changed so much from how it was in Colonial times, but im guessing its quite a bit different now. Great finds regardless.

Well after looking more seems it was filled in at some point after 1924 as this map illustrates.

He buck I have no idea I talked to a guy last week who detected there and showed me a picture of a seated dime.

And I KNOW there’s the best stuff a foot plus down I’m sure. Would love to get to it.

Yea...
I can see all the 1925-date stuff coming from regular park traffic of the times near the top, but there was soooo much fill in that area, and no tellin where it all came from, so chances are that depending on where its from, it could hold a lot of historically old coins/relics, but just not originating from that exact spot..
But then again I guess you could say that for a lot of Areas including most of New Orleans area too..
Just had me thinkin..
Im sure some areas near the Fort have more fill than others, so i can see finding the Seated there too.

As far a New Orleans in general goes they move around so much dirt from place to place every thing is spread out from one side of the city to the other.
