Found this at an estate sale today...

I was going through a box of old foreign coin and found this. I asked how much and the guy said I could just have it for free. I think it is a 1838 Dime? I know its beat to hell but does the 1, in 1838, look like an upside down 7? It is American correct? Thanks for your time.

looks like a seated Dime.

is it the size of a dime ?

or smaller (Half Dime) ?

OH & if you turn it around it won't be upside down

Yes, it is smaller than a normal dime. I didn't notice that.
