Today I went out detecting for the first time this year. Not including my vacation in Jan, down south. Anyway the ground was only thawed for the first 3-4". Only located about 4 or 5 dig able signals for the short time out. The larger item I know I have seen before. It is copper or brass. It was oval at one time and has hooks like a shoe buckle. Also has no writing on it. Anyone know what it is and have a rough date if so? 001.webp 002.webp 003.webp

More likely its a sash buckle, it's to light a construction for shoes. HH

Would mid to late 1800's be off for date on buckle? Seems what I have found that's about right. Read that sash buckles were replaced by sash pins in the late 1800's.
