I found this pottery[?] item while detecting wall street. This was a coal mining area here on Vancouver Island..There was a fair sized Chinatown adjacent to the mines.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it might be?

Hi bartholomewroberts,
I believe these are Japanese Incense Holding Bowls.
Prior to the Japanese Interment Camps of the Second World War?

There were no Japanese in the mining camps up here.. There were a lot of Chinese however..
These coal mines were extant in the latter part of the 19th century to very early 20th century

Many thanks

Nice photo! I was thinking an oil diffuser or a oil lamp. Or part of an oil lamp.
