Found this yesterday. Appears civil war related? Any ideas/knowledge welcome! Now have both front and back. 1 7/16" tall & 1 5/16" wide

That is unique for sure. It seems too small to be a sash buckle, but it does look like one. :icon_scratch:
 

The style of the Eagle looks pre-Civil War to me. Similar eagles appeared on US coins from the 1790s through about 1807. Check the reverse side of Draped Bust silver coins, for example. That doesn't mean they weren't still being used in the CW era, though.
 

Judging by the attachments, I am going to say it is half of a patriotic sash buckle.

Sorry if I lead you astray on this very nice relic, harc. The attachment loop on the back fooled me. Glad you got a good ID on it. It is much more exciting than a sash buckle!
