Hi guys,

I haven't been on the forum in forever, took a break from the hobby but hoping to get out more this year. Sunny day so Joe and I hit a small wooded park that we have permission at, found a number of things there over the years but nothing too interesting.

I decided to work a tough spot along a rocky ridgeline, and found this buckle and parts up against a ledge. It's heavy and in great shape, but I'm thinking reproduction. Funny thing is I found the hardware to the belt itself, which may also offer a clue. Figured you guys would know. No markings I can find.

Hope to see you all more soon, I have a lot of catching up to do!

HH,
Steve

I don't think its a reproduction, but I THINK it's post Civil War. I have some books but don't think they go that recent in time. I'll have to check. If I had to GUESS I'd say 1890's. IT is a very nice find!

Ok, it's a M1911 officer's garrison buckle. You can google it. The belt apparently was tossed with it as the "extra" three pieces would have been on the belt itself. They do make reproductions of these.

I must be learning, I was going to guess by the style of the 'US' that it was circa WWI.

To the OP - Nice find, not seen one posted before.:icon_thumright:
