I have no idea what this is. The house dates back to 1807. But, it was found really shallow. Thanks.

It makes me think of some type of vintage calipers.

Downspout clamp from an old copper or zinc gutter.... there are a few pics online but no really good ones.... basically the spike was driven into the corner board of the house, the downspout went inside and then it was tied shut with a piece of wire. I find them on old houses here occasionally and the house I grew up in still had the old fashioned gutters with those clamps
