Francorrex Francisco DC Button

I found a button today that is a little smaller than a dime and it says "Francorrex Francisco DC" around the edge with what looks like a dragon or dinosaur in the middle underneath a crown. I'll try to attach a picture but it's pretty small and hard to make out. Any ideas what this button was from or the possible age of it?

Cool button. A google search of "DC" and "Francisc" (theres no "O" on your button) brought up some references to a Franciscan Monestery in Washington DC. Its a start..but I'm already late for work!

I believe the DC is really be DG .. loose translation Francis, king of france/franks by the grace of god. (Francisc, D.G. (deus gratia?) franco(rum) rex)

does it have any backmarkings?

my guess would be French or Quebecois military/gov't service uniform button

Another onliner said this about the button: "This antique Victorian brass button depicts the crest of Francis I, king of France (1515-1574). The crest depicts a salamander under a crown. Around the rim are the words FRANCOR REX + FRANCISG.D.C."
