This is an awesome application for using USGS Topo Maps with your GPS. I bring my laptop in the car and I am able to view my location on the map, real time. Just connect your GPS to your laptop and open the PDF map, which you can download for free on the USGS website. Much easier than the tiny GPS screen!
Features include the ability to view maps with multiple coordinate displays, measure length and area, turn layers on and off and search map attributes. Utilizing tools in the TerraGo Publisher Suite, GeoPDF files can be enabled so that users can create notes, redlines and markups or attach images or other data from multiple sources. Redlines and comments can be exported to an ESRI shapefile for incorporation back into a geospatial data repository.
