I have a chocolate lab, answers to the name Charlie, one year old that I would like to give to a loving home. Hell, at this point I'll give him to an Oriental family who thinks dog is a "delicacy". Let me explain.............I received a company cell phone shortly after starting with my current employer. I promptly lost the phone, god alone knows where. I have had many phones over the years, personal & company phones & have never lost or destroyed a single one. I was convinced I had dropped it in a box that I was unpacking, that it was at the house............somewhere! After a couple months (yes........a couple months) my plant manager came up & told me that I had $7000 worth of calls on this phone & I would have to pay the charges, I just about had a stroke! Turns out that Verison had contacted him to ask if the phone was still in use because there hadn't been a single call made from it in 2 months! He got me real good & I took a lot of crap and was the butt of a lot of jokes over this little incident. I received a new company phone & I have been a little paranoid about loosing it, I guard it with my life! I came home last night & put my 2 cell phones (personal & company) on the kitchen table & came downstairs. Charlie had a real bad habit of chewing things when he was a pup, coffee table, entertainment center, LQ's rocking chair, countless cd's & dvd's, etc, but I thought we had broken him of it. I was so very wrong, he apparently had a relapse. He took one of the 2 phones, of course my co. phone & destroyed it, completely, thoroughly destroyed it! So, I now have holes in my stomach from stressing out over telling my boss that I have gone through my second phone in less than a year! Crap! Someone kill me please! So...............if you are looking for a fine dog, a wonderful companion who loves to fetch & likes electronics please feel free to PM me! I'll deliver.............

I was lookin at some old posts & stumbled on to this, I posted the above 4 years ago. I never did find a home for Charlie (I now call him Boo-Boo) but I did later post this pic & told everybody I finally snapped & put a slug in his head! :laughing7: Its a red teddy bear he destroyed then collapsed in exhaustion. I look at Boo-Boo now, he is 5 years old & he is the perfect dog. I think that cell phone was the last thing he ever chewed up, he is more a part of our family than I am. If me & the Queen ever broke up, it would be a war over who got the damn dog, if it was me or the dog..........Id be out on my butt without a thought! Boo is my bestest buddy now! Funny how dogs seem to adapt to their families, "you dont get the dog you want, you get the dog you need."

My SU brought this one home from the Humane Society, he was about to be euthanized (the dog, not the SU). he called me and said he just loves this lil guy (he was 1/3 the size he is now) I said if you feel that passionate about him, ok, bring him home. We have a boxer and she needed some company.

It took me awhile to warm up to him because he was such a mischievous lil man (again the dog, not the SU).

After many years I can't imagine Stosh not in my life:)

Sounds like Charlie need to work....and a treadmill might also help....put him to work and make a game out of it...hide and seek with favorite toys...he is a hunting dog and only misbehaving because he is most likely bored and wants your attention??

No Tee, Boo-Boo is wonderful now. I put that first post up 4 years ago when he was about a year old. He is now the perfect pup, best watch dog ive ever had..........Id love to see someone come into our house & try to hurt my girlfriend. He'd tear em up! We have a siamese cat & they didnt see eye to eye for a while in the begining, now they are best friends! I came home early today, sitting at my PC at home & he is curled up under my desk, under my feet as I type! I just read that 4 year old post & remembered how mad he would make me when he was a pup, then I realized what an awesome dog he became. :icon_thumright:
It just amazes me how dogs will adapt & alter their behavior to suit the family that they join. I've always been good with dogs, seem to have an understanding about them. Im also a HUGE fan of Cesar the Dog Whisperer, he is the real deal........Ive learned so much watching his show.

Labs are great dogs to have AP. I had a black lab and the only problem with them in general is that they are diggers. This guy had a tunnel system in my backyard that would rival those built by the Viet Cong. I tried making him wear mittens so he couldn't dig, but he'd wear them to shreds in no time. I then moved up to wrapping both legs in beach towels, but he had trouble walking. :laughing7:

They are however very loyal once you break them in.

Vibes, you call that a dog :icon_scratch: It almost looked like a shaved rat to me :dontknow:

Your dog can lick my dog!

AP, chocolate labs are excellent pets, watch dogs, snake killer, anything 4 legged sneaking across my yard killer.

I had to have my chocolate lab, Ranger put down last December...he would had been 14 next month. I miss him so much, he was my buddy. He was in a few pic that I posted on TNet.

Oh I am glad you kept him...they stay puppies a little longer then some dogs and you have to deal with that. They are hunting dogs and have to work....I bet if you let him ride with you in a pickup that no one bothers your truck either.

If Im leaving all I gotta do is put on my boots & he follows me all over the house. Its funny as hell, he is right beside me & he leans into me, like if he is touching me I cant leave him behind. He pretty much goes everywhere with me except work, & Ive drug him to the shop a few times. But when Im leaving for work he doesnt get all riled up, he seems to understand that he cant go. He just stands at the front door staring at me with those damn eyes. Spart, Ive never seen him dig a hole........I take that back. We buried a cat in the backyard when he was about a year old & he dug that damn thing up 3 times! I kept burying it deeper each time only to find the corpse on our deck an hour later. After the 3rd burial I went to Home Depot & bought one of those thick stone tiles & put that on top of the poor kitty.........problem solved! He is a smart dog but Im just a tad smarter! :icon_thumleft:

Great post Mighty AP. Glad you stuck it out with your pooch. I got a black lab had her since she was 8 weeks old, she will be 6 on July 1st. She has come a long way from when she was a pup, but I never lost faith in her. She is here through thick and thin, and loves me for me. I love this pic the little girl is my girlfriends niece. We have her for a weekend every month, and the dog has taken a shine too her, after she leaves she will walk around for a week with her stuffed animals, she wont chew them just likes to carry them around and sleep with them. Anyway thats my dog story.

If there is a better all around dog I have never scene it. Just my opinion. And we all know what they say about opinions. ;D :tongue3:

Hello, AP, yup, Labs are great dogs. I'm glad you kept your's long enough to find out how good they can be. We had one
for 14 years before we had to put her down because her hind-quarters gave out. She was a wonderful dog. She liked riding
and I often took her with me in the truck. and she also liked to go camping with us and was well mannered. As a memorial
to her I made a life-size silhouette of a Black Lab and put it in the back yard, just beyond the pateo. Then Karen put her
collar on and it looks just like her. It's kinda like having a picture of someone on your wall. When we look out the window
it's almost like seeing Tasha standing there barking at something. There is a shot of it below.
