Friday's Finds
I found a new bank with a bag of $100.00 in halves that was sealed. It contained 10-40%, and 1-90%. This bank said they could order halves for me so I ordered five $100.00 bags for next. When I asked the teller if they had any halves she originally told me they had a bag of $500.00 in the vault and I said a bag, is it sealed or open? She said I'll have to check, and asked me how much I wanted,at first I told her $50.00 as I thought it was someone's dump bank. It turns out that the bad only contained $100.00 in halves and was sealed,so I said I'll take it. The teller was with another woman when they came back to the window with the halves and I said something about I've never seen halves in a sealed bag before and the woman said that's how they come from the Federal Reserve. I asked if they could order halves and she said sure how many would you like? I asked if it was possible to order five $100.00 sealed bags and she said sure she would have them next Friday. I could see the silver thru the bag and was really excited even before I left the bank. LOL Turns out this bank uses a different armored car compnay than Brinks so this hopefully will be a really good new source from now on.
The bag produced 10-40% halves and 1-90% halve.
Then I picked up one box of halves at a bank that I hadn't ordered from in a while because I kept getting skunked. The box produced 1-40% halve.
I made my way back to the bank that I have visted the last three weeks and have consistently found rolls of halves with silver. They had 5 rolls of halves, which produced 5-40% halves and 1-90% halve.
I bought $400.00 in dimes, which I found out later when I got home that I was shorted one roll. It produced 2 silver Rosies 1963, 1964D, and a 1963 Canadian dime(I think it's silver).
I also searched $100.00 in nickels, which produced: 3-1943P silver war nickels and 1-1944D silver war nickel.
I picked up two boxes of sealed cents:
Box 1-12 wheaties
Box 2- 77 wheaties
I couldn't believe my eyes almost every roll had wheaties, only three didn't. The most wheaties found in one roll was six. I have never had a box produce this many!
The oldest wheatie is 1911.
I had a terrific day of finds and a lot of fun.
