Wow. Knurled knob could be a hydraulic line coupling? Picture 2 & 3 looks like a strap to hold a fire extinguisher? Not my area of expertise, but wow. End of flashlight, I guess, and obviously a shell casing . . .

Last photo of part 2 and first photos of part 3 are fragment of a cylinder of Pratt & Whitney engine like you can see here

Be careful about the links that you post concerning selling things. I believe that only Charter Members are allowed to do so, could be wrong though.

Thanks for suggestion. I'm sorry. I not know. So I removed link even if our association publish the book with no commercial purposes.

I'm not sure about the whole thing and I just didn't want you to get into trouble. PM one of the Mods and I'm sure they will be happy to clarify for you. Must be really cool to search that old crash site.

The one photo which shows the 50 caliber shell (R A 42) was manufactured in 1942 at Remington Arms Co., Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The empty shell (the primer has been struck) was hit by an enemy bullet. The cartridge had been fired and was probably ejected onto the floor, and an attacking enemy aircraft that was in the process of shooting down the B-24 hit the empty cartridge case.

Americans heros were possibly were possibly killed in this crash ,seems very creepy to think of it being disturbed. This is almost grave robbing. To me this is offensive. in my opinion.

I'm afraid for your words. Surely you have not read history of this aircraft and his crew at link I posted (yuo can translate page with Google translator to understand). The crew is buried in USA and we contacted the sons of only survivor who was very glad of our discovery. Our association (Salerno 1943) cooperate with DPMO to search 2 MIA USA airmen of another 2 crash sites we find. Please be careful before write about "grave robbing". This is very offensive to us......

Hello I am looking to revive this thread. My great uncle, Earl Matheny, was the bombardier onboard 41-23801 when she was shot down. May I get in contact with you Matteo?
