This is going to be a longer post, so I apologize in advance.

I have an older neighbor couple who lives a few doors down. Limited family (apparently) nearby. Have been clearing trees out of driveway and troubleshooting generators with recent storms.

Was at dentist office around lunch today…got a frantic call from the wife (husband is getting further along with dementia). Had trouble with water heater, called plumber, he went into crawlspace and ran into a snake. After telling her I was at dentist and couldn’t get there immediately I requested a description and pic of said snake. I got “it’s brown with white spots” and the below pic as response.

Long story short, I went over around 5 and removed the chain. What’s makes it worse……I detected that chain ~3 yrs ago from their front yard. Gave it to husband, he put it under the house and didn’t remember.

Took the second pic to send to plumber (also neighbor) to tell him that after a lengthy struggle I vanquished the serpent….

That’s awesome. Good thing they knew to call you!

After telling a buddy of mine the situation he said….”you’re the guy”. Wasn’t sure what he meant but he explained when someone says “I’ve got a guy”, apparently in this neighborhood I’m A Guy.

….thinking of having some shirts made

That's funny. I do Nuisance Wildlife Control for a living. I've been called multiple times for similar issues, both mis-identification and animal sounds that turn out to be mechanical. And for the most part, their minds are still intact. People are terrified of the critters that I deal with on a daily basis. Everyone usually ends up having an embarrassing chuckle over the findings.

Her quote was “do you do snakes?” Not sure how to answer that one…no don’t like them, but yes will deal with them. Copperheads are the worst thing we have here, and had that been the situation it would have involved a .22 with ratshot under the house. Otherwise some good gloves and a sack.

But to your point (and I agree) most have no idea.
