Funeral rifle shell

Hi, I'm trying to get a date on this rifle shell. It's inscribed "Fired in volley by 22nd Reg. at Grant's funeral". I of course want it to be THE Grant's funeral, but it's probably just some guy called Grant. It's 1 3/4 inches tall and 5/8 across the bottom. There are no maker's marks. Found it in a bag of junk in a thrift shop in California.
