I got this nickel In some pocket change and noticed it has a copper tone In a few places . I washed it with soap and water so it not dirt or trash was curious anybody have any idea why this is..

Looks like a stain to me.......probably iron rust.

I have found these nickels but not with stain on it. The ground, with other metals in it, can do its own kind of plating.
