I was waiting in line at a bank to have my bag of $500 worth of halves counted and a guy walks in with a couple of ziplocks of coins. So, I decided to ask him if he had anything old in there. He said it was just some change laying around the house. Well, the teller counted my bag and came back with my receipt for $499.75. Of course, that was off since there weren't in quarters in the bag. Meanwhile a quarter suddenly appears on the counter almost like magic. I didn't question the CRH fairy and slid it over to the teller to make it an even $500. The teller indicated it was the gentlemen behind me. I thanked him as I left. In hindsight...he had passed me an old quarter...I didn't rim check it and it didn't look silver to me, but who knows.

Oh well, it all happened so fast, I didn't process it until I was in the car already. Just a funny story.

A friend of mine, who knows I collect coins, had a large bag of loose change that was sitting around his house just last week. He brought them to me and said that is was approximately $10. I gave him the money and when I went through the bag it was a lot of silver. You might have just missed that golden opportunity. But there's always tomorrow.

It's difficult for me to hit up a stranger at a bank like that. I made my initial attempt just in case I could see a bunch of silver in his bag and then I would have lost all inhibitions and went for the score.

One of things that got me coin roll hunting was waiting in line at a coin star behind two kids that were dumping what looked like a massive silver collection. It made me wonder which bank picked up that deposit (I now believe coin star does there own pickups). Anyway, I did find a cache of 21-40%, 20-64s, 11-bens, 4-walkers, 2-barbers at a bank nearby that same week. It was my first score.

Keep on rolling!
