Garbage?

This is probably just some rusty, metal dregs, but to me it looks kind of like a rock, though I have no idea what it is. Found on a mountain in Centre County, Pennsylvania.

likely it is displayed upside down.the slag residue poured into a depression on the ground during the forging process.If the(bottom in photo)top is as relatively flat as appears then most likely.
