Garrett Ace 300

Hello all....
I was recently given the Garrett 300. It was used only a few times and not at all for the past 8 years. The unit make no sounds at all upon turning on or ever. The display will show discrimination bars but nothing else when passed over a variety of clad coins on the floor. The Low Batt symbol does not come on and I have replaced the 2 9v Batts. Is this fixable.... or retirement?

Are you saying the display shows it's detecting something, but no sounds? It may be a dirty headphone jack, or a bad speaker. Try it with headphones and see what happens.
