For me the upgraded improvements on the ATX were well worth the higher costs. Of course IMHO

If you're interested in gold detecting, there are more expensive alternatives, can you say "minelab" up to $10k+, but the is one I'm looking at. The Nokta Fors gold machine, I think the pro pack goes for around $900, and from what I've read, it's damn good.
