Garrett CXIII won't turn on
Hi- I have a Garrett CXIII GMH that I bought new in 1998 or so. The threshold on it never worked from the start and in retrospect I should have sent it back then but it worked well enough for where I was. Anyway, after sitting unused in its case in a side room for several years, the machine no longer turns on. The battery compartment was empty during that time and fresh alkaline batteries installed. Unfortunately, the room lacked heat and AC so I wonder if the temperature variations might have killed it.
My questions are A- as the machine cost ca. $1000 then and really wasn't used much, is it still worth fixing? and B- what might I expect from Garrett service as far as turnover and repair costs? If no, how much have the machines advanced in the last 13 years? At the time, the owner's video bragged "deepest seeking detector known to man".. are current models significantly better functionally? I don't necessarily care about target imaging, etc. Thanks-
