Prior to 1922,, all of the houses in my area of Pennsylvania had gas lighting. After 1922, electricity became available. I have a maze of gas piping that I have to remove from my basement and attic.
I still enjoy digging some of the intricately designed gas light valves.
Those are some cool digs.

Hey Bonz..I like anything old, intricate, ornate...it's a peek into yesteryear that shows how things were made...not "manufactured"...sometimes when I clean out my "junk" bucket, I'll come across something, that diamond in the rough that is really, really neat when the mud is knocked off. Good stuff..Ddf

I've found a few of those. They are kinda cool. Gotta wonder how many houses exploded back then.

I was in KC Missouri a couple years back and the house 3 doors down from me exploded. It still happens.

I found a valve a couple of months ago. I really like gas light stuff too.

Nice little collection.
