Got out for a while last night. Went back to a park. Got a pretty sharp 39D Merc and 9 wheaties. Dug a target that I thought was a toy car. It was down about 6 inches. When I got home and rinsed it off, I saw that it was some type of Pin. On the back it has “Indianapolis Motor Speedway” and then the pin manufacturer‘s name. On the front is the year 1967. My first thought was that it was some sort of souvenir from the 1967 Indy 500. After a few Google searches and some checking on eBay, I determined it was a Pit Pass Badge issued for the 1967 Indy 500 that allowed the wearer to enter the pit areas. Here is a website that shows it.

Also found where one from 1967 sold on ebay for $100 last week – although it had not been buried in the ground for the past 40 years. Thanks for looking.
