geodes?

When I was a girl scout I remember our troop going out geode hunting. We went to a spot and dug for geodes. I would like to do this with my family. What type of area do you have to be in to find Geodes? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would start at a rock shop and ask questions about areas to hunt or dig. Ask about Gem and Mineral clubs in your area or go to a good book store and look for a rock hounding book that shows collection locations in your area or state.

Geodes can be found near Keokuk Iowa. I have never been to the area, but if you go, you can check with the local rock shops and they can direct you to collection sites. There may be some books in the library on this subject. Good luck and post and finds yo may make. HH.
