YES his name is Darrel Vermillion and he is my father-in- law. Tell him you know Lucky Johnson(my name) and that I said for him to tell you where some old sites are. He does a lot of varmit hunting around there also and etc so he KNOWS lots of places. Hopefully he can help you better than I could( he has lives there since 1971) but if not I will try to remember some places that should be good.
Have you researched the area north of the college? That area was something but damn if I can remember what it was.
Also there is a stream down by Doyle I believe that was supposed to be an old gold panning area that people say still has lots of gold in it. At least that is the rumor
I just got into metal detecting ( 1 month now)so I am going from memory of hunting and what I heard etc.
Out in the Standish/Litchfield area there are lots of old houses etc. Have you also checked out the old train station in Wendall, out by the power plant? Also Westwood was an old logging area and there are lots of old houses out there.
I will try to come up with some other areas as well. It would be easier if you can tell me which ones you have hit so I can eliminate those areas.
I live in Central Florida my home state and we have been here for the last 7 years and have no plans to move back to Susanville area other than visiting the in laws.
